Fang

As Played by Dimitri

Fang (Lv. 8)

Lv. 8 Barbarian

Fang is a half-orc, leaning more on the orc side than human. His family has always lived on the edges of civilization, and he's learned everything he knows from them. Fang prioritizes his connection to people above all else, and it's through that connection he fuels and channels his rage. Fang desperately wants to be well-liked, and relies on his strength to get him out of most situations. He is also very superstitious, with a strong distaste for magic. "And the fate of man is in the hands/ Of he who stands and heeds the call" -Greta Van Fleet, Black Smoke Rising

Tue September 19, 1178 (21:00) - Tue September 26, 1178 (12:00)

- Finally reunited with Dirt VII in the lord's manor of the town of Gdansk, in the Polish Lowlands. - Dirt had been rescued and sheltered by Lord Reginald Sigmund Kasden, the gnomish lord of this town. This was in return for him and his grandmother, Dirt VI, helping Reginald win the Beasting Contest since no other participant had such an advantage. <Ground comes to join> - Dirt VII's mother, Ground, comes by to scold him for leaving mid-conversation to speak with the party - She introduces herself to the party and joins in the discussion with Reginald <Reginald offers a deal> - Reginald would like the party to work for him in the Beasting Contest, since they seem like the most competent fighters he's met. - He would offer them 3000 gp (total) upon Fanviryn's capture, and 50gp each if they fail to capture her and another team wins the contest - Reginald would provide support in the form of transportation, a place to stay, and a team to help in the hunt as needed by the party <The party asks for clarification on motives> - The party wanted to know why Reginald is interested in this contest in the first place and if they'd actually get paid - He said that the reward is around 100,000 gp as well as recognition from the other gnomish Houses, which he could use to finance infrastructure improvements in Gdansk for the common people as well as get a stronger footing politically. - The party confirmed this seems to be his true intentions, despite the suspicion they hold of all gnomes <The party wants recognition> - Everyone was also curious if they would get any recognition for being the ones defeating Fanviryn, or if all the glory would go to Reginald as the gnome behind the team - Reginald admitted that it would be unseemly to have non-gnomes seen as the true force behind the effort - Together they decided that they could present the party as the "elite team" hired by Reginald - They would even get to join the awards gala at the end of the hunt! - This would be beneficial to Ground, who wants safety for her family from House Rutred - Reginald believes that being publicly shown as being supported by Reginald and therefore House Kasden, it would become politically unseemly for the Rutreds to imprison or hurt her family for betraying them <Reading over the contract at their guest home> <Call from Zerendar!!!> - Zerendar calls the party in a surprise call (confusing Ground immensely) - He says he's going away for a time to visit the libraries of Zec'Amos on his quest for knowledge and learning, so he's going to be uncontactable for a while - He previously hadn't been there because the gnomes are "Magicless" and he didn't think he could get any magical knowledge from them - He reminds the players of their job to find his anchors (pocketwatches) <Final Decision the next morning> - The party revises the contract with Reginald to be exactly as they wish: -- 1. The party is hired to capture Fanviryn, with help from Dirt VII who will learn the archdruid entrapment ritual from his grandmother -- 2. They will be paid 3000gp total on success, and 50gp each on failure -- 3. Reginald will provide resources to support the hunt -- 4. The party will be invited to the awards gala and presented publicly as the "elite team" hired by Reginald -- 5. Reginald will do his best to let Ground perform her music at the gala despite not being a gnome -- 6. If Fanviryn dies (technically not the goal of the contest), Reginald will do his best to fulfill as much of this contract as physically possible, especially protection of Dirt's family from House Rutred's ire - The contract is signed with the party listed together under the name "We Kill Bears" <Next Step Plans> - The party will meet with Reginald in a chartered inn within the town of Argentium in a bit over a week - The party travels to the town of Stump where they think they might find some information about Zerendar's vault in the region as well as resistance contacts <Travelling to Stump> - The party travels on the Moon's Rest's Revenge toward the town of Birchwood, where they disembark to hike the rest of the way to Stump - Midday on their expected last day of hiking, they are assaulted by a creature Ground identified as a Long Shadow - a monster hiding in people's shadows to prepare to strangle them unexpectedly (specifically, 4 of them)
